TalkSPORT pundit names ‘perfect signing’ for NUFC – “Bruce would get the best out of him”

Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Ross Barkley to join Newcastle, believing his old boss Steve Bruce can get the best out of him.

The talkSPORT pundit and ex-Aston Villa striker called Newcastle “the perfect move” for England international Barkley, who is surplus to requirements at Chelsea and in dire need of a new home.

He had an underwhelming loan spell at Villa last season and will be looking for a move to try and reignite his stalled Three Lions career.

Here’s what Agbonlahor’s had to say:

“I think it would be a good fit.

“Steve Bruce would get the best out of him.

“Ross Barkley needs to go somewhere now, he’s at a crossroads in his career, he’s 28.

“He needs to go somewhere and have a really good season, not just a few months like he did at Villa.

“It could be the perfect move for him to go play week in, week out.”

Once dubbed the next Wayne Rooney, Barkley has never quite reached the heights he was expected to but would still be a quality signing for NUFC.

Powerful, skilful, both-footed and with an eye for goal, he could easily do the role that Joe Willock did for us in the second half of last season.

I think most Toon fans would be very happy if Bruce listened to his former player and brought Barkley to the North East.

  1. WHEN has Bruce got the best out of ANY Player = NEVER!

And ask yourself why when Villa are spending BIG on Quality players they have decided not to retain Barkley – is it his attitude, drink issues or just not interested (?!)

    Bruce just isn’t a MANAGER…

and As for Agbonlahor – another waste of space touting for a job
