Bookies release early relegation odds after 2021/22 Premier League fixtures are announced
The first set of relegation odds have emerged today - and they're tipping Newcastle United to stay in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth ahead of the 2021/22 season, naming us the joint FOURTH favourites to go down.
Following the release of the Premier League fixture list - which sees us take on West Ham (H), Aston Villa (A) and Southampton (H) in our first three games - some bookies are already dishing out odds on who will go down.
Grosvenor Casino believe Norwich (9/10), Watford (evens) and Brentford (11/10) are favourites for the drop, but Newcastle and Crystal Palace are next in line at 9/4, pipping Burnley (5/2) and Southampton (9/2) to be fourth most likely to go down.
Relegation odds - June 16th, 2021:
- Norwich - 9/10
- Watford - Evens
- Brentford - 11/10
- Newcastle - 9/4
- Crystal Palace - 9/4
- Burnley - 5/2
- Southampton - 9/2
We spent a majority of last season in 17th position, so news of the bookies backing us to finish there this time around should hardly be a surprise to our supporters - despite the fact we ended 2020/21 in 12th.
Let's hope we can kick on from where we left off last season, avoid big injuries, sign well this summer and look to go a few better than before - not spent 90% of the upcoming campaign constantly looking over our shoulders.
