Disgraceful Premier League decision as Newcastle United fans are left to suffer…again

The Premier League will tell you ‘football is for the fans’, yet it seems we’ve been completely overlooked once again based on 2021/22 fixture lists released today.

The headlines will point out our opening day clash with West Ham at St James’ Park and look towards our tough festive period or tricky-looking run in, however there’s one game that stood out like a sore thumb for all the wrong reasons.

That is our trip to Southampton on New Years Day.

Yes, that’s right, the Premier League have selected us for the longest trip possible for our first game of 2022 – a fixture that will force match-going fans into a 12-hour round trip!

How are Newcastle fans expected to make the 320 mile trip to St Mary’s just hours after seeing the new year in with family on Tyneside?

Making the fixtures work for everyone is never easy and sometimes impossible, but this just stinks and puts so many supporters in an impossible position.

As per usual, fans are the last ones to know – so many of these dates are subject to change and kick off times not clear until closer to the time – but the first ones to suffer.

  1. It would be great if all the Premier league teams could play at home on New Year’s Day lmao.
How about a suggestion of ot playing games on New Years day instead? Oh no its one of the biggest betting days of the year and we wouldn’t want to upset the Billionaire Bookmakers or Skysports lol.
Let’s have another negative article aimed at Newcastle Fans.
