2021/22 fixtures released – NUFC handed kind start, awful Christmas & tricky run-in

Newcastle will host last season’s surprise package West Ham when the Premier League gets up and running again in August, with the opening round of fixtures set to take place between the 13th (Friday night) and the 16th (Monday night football).

The opening day clash at St James’ Park will then be followed by a trip to Aston Villa the following weekend and home game against Southampton the following weekend – with our reverse fixture against the Saints set to take place on News Years Day (a reminder that PL chiefs give no consideration to travelling fans!).

The good news for fans, however, is that we’ll finally play at home on Boxing Day, as Manchester United will arrive on Tyneside on December 26th. That said, our festive period looks extremely tricky, seeing us face Leicester, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Everton in the space of 17 days – all beforre a mammoth trip to St Mary’s in our first game of 2022.

January to March sees us go into a very winnable run, but April and May could prove difficult, as we take on Spurs, Leicester, Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal before a trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley on the final day of the season.
