Last month, SBI Soccer claimed we had made enquiries over a potential summer move for Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
A few weeks on, SBI reporter Larry Henry is now reporting that we lead the race to sign the USA international – but warns we will still have to pay a ‘decent fee’ to sign the 23-year-old.
The centre-back is out of contract next summer and doesn’t appear to have a future at Spurs, however the same outlet has previously stated that the North London club will demand ‘around £10m’.
Henry reports that Fulham, Cardiff City and Bournemouth are also keen, with MLS giants New York Red Bulls another side said to have shown interest.
Carter-Vickers is a player Newcastle coach Graeme Jones know very well, with him not only playing a key role in his loan move to at Bournemouth last summer, but also working with the defender during a previous spell at Luton.
Another centre-back linked and someone who seems very much attainable, however I’m not convinced about this one.
He’s rarely got a look in at Spurs and has had several Championship loan moves that have never ended in earning him a move elsewhere, so I can’t help but feel he’d not be an improvement on our current options.
