BBC confirm Steve Bruce target set for summer loan move – One to watch for NUFC fans?

Back in January, both national and local press reported that Steve Bruce was working on a loan deal for Man Utd talent Brandon Williams.

The Chronicle and talkSPORT confirmed our interest and the Shields Gazette even stated that we’d ‘agreed the framework of a deal’, in principle, to bring the England U21 to St James’ Park until the end of 2020/21.

Southampton were also said to be in the race, however Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ended up blocking any exit and kept him at Old Trafford

Six months later, the BBC’s Simon Stone now reports that Man Utd will allow him to leave on loan this summer – a move that could well see Steve Bruce reignite his interest and resume talks with his former club.

Considering he ended up making just two starts over the second half of last season, many Man Utd fans believe it was a mistake denying him a loan move.

Time will tell if we are in the market for another full-back, but he can play down the left or right and could be a useful addition – especially if we see Matt Ritchie return to Bournemouth and opt against a free-agent move for Jetro Willems.

One to watch this summer?
