Miguel Almiron has just enjoyed the perfect night for Paraguay at this summer’s Copa America.
The Newcastle United playmaker bagged a goal and an assist in a surprise win over Chile last night – a victory that sends them into the quarter finals and leaves them behind on Lionel Messi’s Argentina in Group A.
His assist came from a superb set piece delivery that was headed home by Braian Samudio, then he finished emphatically from the spot in the second half to make it 2-0 – signing off an impressive display in style as he collected the man of the match award.
Watch both goals below:
Great to see the smiling assassin starring at this summer’s tournament, however it has since emerged that his progress into the quarter finals will see him miss the start of pre-season training on Tyneside.
Looking at that corner kick he whipped in for their first goal, is it time to give him a go at set pieces next season? Jonjo Shelvey tends to be on them, but the majority of his tend to hit the first man or be floated in with little pace – where as this was a cracking delivery from Miggy!
Good luck to him and Paraguay ahead of their quarter final clash.
