Speaking to Alan Shearer just moments after last night’s 4-0 win in Rome, Gareth Southgate sent a brilliant message to the nation after sending England into the semi-finals of Euro 2020.
Southgate spoke to our record goalscorer about his delight at being able to give England fans something to shout about on a Saturday night, feeling flying beers and huge cheers up and down every pub in the land is the least we deserve after the year we’ve all been through.
Shearer – a former teammate of the England manager during the iconic Euro 96 tournament on home soil – asked if the England boss would be able to celebrate this one, however it seems Southgate is already focused on preparing for Wednesday huge clash with Denmark and will have been straight back to work today.
