Agent confirms staggering deal for NUFC star & surprise contract clause also made public

Jacob Murphy has signed a mammoth SIX-year deal at St James’ Park, while fellow Mag Federico Fernandez could now remain at the club until he’s 35!

Starting with Murphy – one of FIVE first-team players to land a new deal at Newcastle yesterday – it’s emerged from the players agent that he’s been handed a whopping contract that keeps him on Tyneside until 2027.

Considering he was fighting for his Newcastle United future just 12 months ago and very nearly deemed surplus to requirements, it’s a staggering deal for the former Norwich star who shone at right wing-back over the second half of the 2020/21 season.

Elsewhere, The Chronicle have revealed that Argentine centre-back Federico Fernandez (32) has signed a new TWO-year deal, which includes a surprise clause to extend his contract by a further year if he’s still going strong in 2023!

Considering Mike Ashley has often been reluctant to keep senior players at the club once they enter their 30’s, it’s quite something that we could yet trigger a clause that sees the South American stick around until he’s 35.

Back to Murphy – our most improved player last season – here’s what his agent at New Era Global had to say about his bumper new deal:

“Congratulations to client Jacob Murphy who has signed a new six- year contract with Newcastle United.

“We look forward to the season ahead and continuing the journey with you Jacob!”

Elsewhere, incase you missed it yesterday, the club have also triggered extensions for Fabian Schar and Paul Dummett, also handing Dwight Gayle a new contract.

Delighted for Murphy, even if six years is excessive, and also great to see Fernandez get the new deal is solid displays have deserved.
