Newcastle open talks with Arsenal over Joe Willock loan deal – The Times

Newcastle United have opened talks with Arsenal over a potential loan deal to bring Joe Willock back to St James’ Park for the new 2021/22 season.

This comes from The Times’ Martin Hardy, who reports that Mikel Arteta is yer to make a final decision on the 21-year-old’s future – despite claims earlier today that he was set to stay.

Interestingly, early team news from the Arsenal camp shows he has been left out of their squad to face Hibernian tonight.

This could mean nothing, but it’s certainly an interesting development now he’s back training with the Gunners after returning from a summer break in Mykonos.

A second loan deal may well sum up the state of Steve Bruce’s summer budget – suggesting we may not be able to afford a permanent move – however we’d all be happy to have him back, even on a temporary basis.

Even then, any loan move could lead to more should we have new owners or more money to spend this time next year.
