Some big claims have emerged from Sky Sports’ Keith Downie in the last few moments – and it’s not great news for Newcastle United.
He’s revealed that Freddie Woodman had been closing in on a loan move to Bournemouth, however that deal has suddenly been put on hold as NUFC no.1 Martin Dubravka has suffered a foot injury.
No details have been given as of yet regarding the severity of the Slovakian’s injury, but Downie has confirmed that Woodman is now set to play a part in our pre-season clash with York this weekend as a result.
Here’s what he’s had to say this afternoon:
An update that explains why Woodman has not been part of the squad’s York-based training camp over the past few days, with the player spotted in Croydon earlier today.
Lee Ryder has followed up on these reports, claiming that the 24-year-old had even undergone part of his medical on the south coast – only for the move to be frozen after Bruce received the bad news on Dubravka.
A shock loan move given he’d predominantly been linked with Leeds and Swansea this week, however the focus must not switch to our current number one who had been on a break following Euro 2020.
Let’s hope his injury isn’t a bad one, with Ryder stating that he’ll now see a consultant in his bid to be fit for the beginning of the 2021/22 season.
