“I’m ready” – Ex-NUFC star tells Sky Sports he’s plotting shock Premier League move at 36

Former Toon striker Papiss Cisse has declared that he is “ready” to seal a surprise return to the Premier League so he can be closer to his family.

After bagging a stunning 26 goals for Alanyaspor across 2019/20, the 36-year-old scored just five league goals for Fenerbahce last season. However, the free agent striker believes he still has what it takes to cut it in England.

Cisse hasn’t played in the Premier League since 2016, but will always be remembered for his electric start to life in England, where he scored 13 goals in 14 games following a January move from Freiburg.

He scored one of English football’s greatest ever goals against Chelsea back in May 2012, but his form in front of goal was patchy from that point onwards, with him managing just 10 Premier League goals in the two seasons that followed.

Here is what he said to Sky Sports about his Premier League ambitions:

At 36, he’d do well to land a Premier League move – even on a free transfer – but stranger things have happened!
