Ant & Dec send Saudi takeover message to the Premier League as Toon fans protest in London

Ant and Dec have questioned why the Premier League seem so reluctant to offer transparency regarding the Saudi takeover saga set for arbitration this month.

Speaking in response to the planned protests in Parliament Square today, the Geordie duo ask why the EPL are hiding behind this legal battle if fans really are the ‘lifeblood of the game’.

This comes after the Government refused to intervene in Amanda Staveley’s bid to make the arbitration hearing play out in public, leaving Ant and Dec to wonder – what are the Premier League hiding?

Here’s the tweet they sent out to their 6.7million followers on Friday afternoon:

They’re spot on. The EPL have left us in the dark for over 15 months now, yet to this day offer nothing but “no comments”.

If they’re so confident in their case or have nothing to hide, why are they refusing to offer us fans transparency? We’re not demanding they give a takeover the green light – even if that’s what we want – we’re asking for a fair trial.

Here a picture and video footage from @ProtestNUFC’s trip to London today, with the group visiting Parliament Square and the PL headquarters:

  1. Love these lads, but I’m not sure they will get this takeover pushed through 😂.

  2. Why are the EPL not being transparent?

Maybe it’s because they have an agreement with all of the Premier League teams that all these decisions will be made behind closed doors, and will not be made public.

Note – None of the Premier League teams are shouting for transparency.
Even Ashley isn’t shouting for transparency (because he has signed the agreement).
It’s the likes of Staveley, Onwurah and now Ant and Dec, who are kicking up a fuss on the transparency side, and none of them have signed the agreement, or apparently even know about it.
