According to The Times, Andy Carroll is looking for a new club after being released by Newcastle United.
The club are yet to reveal the official retained list – despite Atsu, Carroll and Saivet’s deals expiring over two weeks ago – leaving many to wonder if the 32-year-old Geordie was staying or not.
Now, The Times report that he’s NOT been offered an extension and is currently a free agent trying to work out what might be his next move after a difficult few seasons back at his boyhood club.
He sealed an emotion return to Tyneside two years ago, with Bruce signing the 6ft 4′ striker on a free transfer, however he’s managed just ONE goal since.
Not only has he looked way past his best and a shadow of his former self, he’s been blighted by injuries and hasn’t looked mobile enough to cut it at this level.
He made just FOUR Premier League starts last season and ended the campaign behind Wilson, Gayle and Joelinton in the pecking order.
In truth, he shouldn’t have been handed an extension last summer and needs to be replaced by a striker far more capable of stepping in when needed.
