Bruce reveals ‘imminent’ transfer as he confirms TWO exits & offers Joe Willock update

Steve Bruce has revealed that Florian Lejeune is “on his way to Spain” ahead of an “imminent” move back to Alaves.

The Frenchman missed out on today’s pre-season friendly defeat in York and it’s now been revealed just why, with him close to sealing a permanent move back to the La Liga side he joined on loan this time last year.

Elsewhere, the NUFC boss has confirmed that Andy Carroll HAS left the club, stating that the 32-year-old wanted a new challenge in hope of gaining more game time.

Last but not least, Bruce has offered a brief update on our attempts to re-sign Joe Willock, saying we’re “badgering away” in our bid to bring him back – but insisting that the club are still waiting on Arsenal to make a decision on his future.

Here’s what he’s had to say on all of the above this afternoon:

Bruce on Lejeune:

“Florian is on his way to Spain.

“It will put a few quid in the coffers.

He is going back to Alaves where he was on loan and there is something imminent.”

Bruce on Carroll:

“He’s out of contract. I had a conversation with Andy.

“I think he wants to go and play,”

“I wish the lad all the best. I hope it goes well for the rest of his career.

“He’s certainly been a big help to me in the last couple of years, that’s for sure.”

Bruce on Willock:

“As I’ve said, it’s really Arsenal’s decision, and until Arsenal make a decision – a bit like all the big clubs, they have a look over pre-season – we’ll keep monitoring and badgering away.

“We’d love to do something but it’s still Arsenal’s call.”

  1. 2 non starters out and 1 in which looks great business. Positives and although certain media like to Toon bash by saying we haven’t bought anybody yet we haven’t gotten rid of more than any others.
4 more signings and we should be ok.
