Newcastle ‘offered’ chance to sign Euro 2020 winger for £6m – Report

According to reports, Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Czech Republic star Lukas Masopust.

This comes via an ‘exclusive’ from 90min, with them reporting that the Slavia Prague winger could be on his way to the Premier League this summer.

They claim that West Ham have been showing serious interest in the Czech, but state that we are one of several Premier League club’s who’ve now been contacted by his representatives over a potential £6m move.

The 28-year-old impressed at Euro 2020, helping his country reach the quarter finals following a group stage win over Scotland and surprise victory over the Netherlands in the last 16.

To some, this could be seen as a bargain following his all action displays at this summer’s European Championships, however I can’t see this being a deal that’d appeal to Mike Ashley – or fit in with Bruce’s transfer plans.

After all, it was recently reported that the NUFC owner had doubts about sanctioning a £4m move for 27-year-old midfielder Mario Lemina over age concerns, suggesting he’d returned to his old transfer policy.

Not only that, Bruce suggested earlier this week that he’s unlikely to be in the market for attackers this summer, prioritising moves for a couple of central midfielders instead.

A new name linked, but I’d like to bet there’s nothing in this at NUFC’s end – even if his agent has offered him our way.
