Everton midfielder ‘could feature in swap deal’ involving Sean Longstaff

Some intriguing claims appear to have emerged from Merseyside today involving Sean Longstaff and Everton midfielder Tom Davies.

The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder has indicated that sources at Everton have this morning talked up a potential swap deal between the pair.

Steve Bruce has previously been linked with a move for Davies – an energetic England U21 international – while Rafa Benitez is known to be a big fan of Longstaff, having handed the 23-year-old his big chance at Premier League level during the 2018/19 season.

Lee Ryder states that these whispers from Goodison Park have been ‘played down for the moment’, although the final three words of that line could prove to be telling?

Longstaff has struggled for form or game time since Bruce replaced Benitez, not to mention the fact he’s now got less than 12 months remaining on his contract after failing to agree to any extension last season.

As for Davies, he’s also found regular starts hard to come by at Everton and could be on the look out for a move if that doesn’t look like changing under Rafa Benitez.

One to watch in the coming weeks now we’re forced to get creative in our bid to sign a couple of new midfielders?

Why does everyone except NUFC think Sean Longstaff is a top player..

    Billy – who else does??.

Is that the impression a swap deal with Tom Davies leaves you with?? ?.

If they though he was a top player they’d be bidding £50m like we’ve just seen Ben White go for.

He’s a good player, not a top player – but better than Tom Davies so Rafa can do one!!.

  2. Is it because Rafa is at Everton that a random toffee player gets chucked into the mix just for the sake of a story. When was the last time a swap deal was had.

    Pie in the sky.

  3. Longstaffe is not a good player. Rafa was forced to play him had a few good games got injured and been useless since. Worst thing we did was not selling him to Man Utd.
