New report claims NUFC in pole position to seal loan deal after Bruce holds ‘private talks’

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are back in pole position to sign Man Utd centre-back Axel Tuanzebe on loan.

Despite Sky Sports suggesting earlier this week that he’s all set to join Aston Villa, they claim that Steve Bruce has intervened by holding ‘private talks’ with Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer – reassuring the Red Devils boss that the 23-year-old would be a regular starter at St James’ Park.

As a result, Football Insider claim that a ‘recruitment source’ has informed them that Tuanzebe now looks more likely to spend the 2021/22 season on Tyneside.

They do insist, however, that Aston Villa have no problem paying the loan fee quoted by Man Utd, where as Newcastle are yet to agree on the ‘multi-million’ payment required to secure his services for the year.

That said, with Tuanzebe not a guaranteed starter at Villa thanks to the imperious form of Ezri Konsa and club captain Tyrone Mings, it seems he’d find much needed minutes at Premier League level easier to come by at Newcastle.

The report also states that Steve Bruce is eager to add some pace to his backline this summer, which is why he’s identified the athletic defender as the ideal loan target.

Money talks, so we’ll see if we are prepared to cough up the cash needed to acquire him on loan, but this would be a very shrewd signing that would add something different to our one-paced back line.
