It’s been a tough old summer for Newcastle United fans to endure, but our pre-season campaign has at least ended on a high.
In Sunday’s 2pm kick off at St James’ Park, we put in a superb 2nd half display to come away 3-0 winners against newly promoted Norwich.
Matt Ritchie opened the scoring, latching onto a loose ball after some good hold up play from Callum Wilson, with Dwight Gayle then bagging twice in an impressive cameo from the striker.

A smart through ball from Fraser to put Gayle free for his first – followed by a quality finish with the outside of his boot – and a top class cross from Javier Manquillo to set up the striker’s second.
Elsewhere, it was also great to see Saint-Maximin back from illness, with Callum Wilson also returning from a hamstring issue and coming through unscathed.

2 cracking finishes from Gayle. If he could do that more consistently we’d have good options up front.
