Joe Willock boost arrives from Arsenal – but bad news for Bruce as loan target signs elsewhere

Newcastle United have officially missed out on a deal for Axel Tuanzebe, with Aston Villa announcing that the defender has signed on loan from Manchester United.

Our transfer hopes have been given a potential boost today, however, with team news from North London showing that Mikel Arteta has left Joe Willock OUT of their squad to face Tottenham Hotspur today – and he’s not believed to be injured.

What this means is anyone’s guess, but it could be a sign that he’s on his way out – or at least doesn’t feature in Arsenal’s plans just a week before the new season kicks off.

Arsenal have since confirmed that Arteta will be addressing Willock’s absence after the game today, meaning his post-match press conference will be one to watch from a NUFC perspective!

Back to Tuanzebe, it’s a real shame we’ve missed out on this one, with him the sort of athletic centre-back who could’ve offered some much needed mobility to our one-paced, ageing back line.
