Newcastle ‘interested’ in signing Amadou Diawara – and club are prepared to do deal – Report

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Newcastle United are now showing interest in a potential deal for Roma’s Amadou Diawara.

They report that Jose Mourinho, now back in Italy, is prepared to sell the 24-year-old in a bid to raise funds for a new midfielder of his own.

Diawara is a Guinea international who played 18 times in Serie A last season, having been at the club for two years following a £19m move from Napoli.

He’s been linked with a move to Wolves earlier in the summer and could be tick several boxes in our search for a new defensive midfielder, being a player with potential who is not only a good age (24) but likely to be available at a cut-price fee.

It’s been said for some time now that Steve Bruce is looking to add TWO midfielders to his squad – one being Joe Willock – meaning we may have been alerted by Diawara’s availability.

This latest transfer link comes just a few days after reports in Italy (this time from Calciomercato) claimed we’d approached Mourinho’s side over a potential deal for Roma teammate Carles Perez.
