Sky Sports have confirmed that Joe Willock has arrived at the club’s training ground this morning to finalise a move to Newcastle United.
With a fee agreed with Arsenal – believing to be in the region of £20-£25m – and an agreement over personal terms finally struck yesterday, the 21-year-old travelled up to Tyneside last night.
It’s not yet clear if he completed part of his medical on Thursday, however Newcastle have until 12pm today to complete the deal and register the player – otherwise he will NOT be eligible to feature in Sunday’s clash with West Ham at St James’ Park.
Sky Sports’ Keith Downie claims that we hope to have it done in time, stating that he could even train with the squad at the club’s Benton base today:
With the clock ticking down and the 12pm deadline being just a couple of hours away, let’s hope he can pass a medical with no issues and be registered in time for Sunday!
I’d guess that even if they register him in time, at best he’ll only get a spot on the bench with a 15 minute cameo at the end to get the crowd off Bruce’s back.
