Before a ball was kicked, the bookies were backing the three newly promoted clubs to go straight back down – but there’s been plenty of movement on that front following an intriguing opening weekend of Premier League football.
Norwich remain the favourites for the drop after they were beaten 3-0 by Liverpool on Saturday night, however Brentford’s big win over Arsenal and impressive display has the bookies believing they are now more likely to stay up than Newcastle United.
Watford’s surprise victory over Aston Villa also has them level with Burnley – who were beaten 2-1 by Brighton at Turf Moor – while Crystal Palace’s 3-0 beating at Stamford Bridge has them the new second favourites to go down.
Elsewhere, Southampton remain in the picture fresh from losing 3-1 at Everton on the opening weekend – a defeat that follows exits for a couple of players.
