Newcastle line up loan moves for Chelsea duo as Steve Bruce eyes new centre-back – Report

The Express are reporting that Newcastle are eyeing up loan moves for Chelsea duo Malang Sarr and Ethan Ampadu.

The two centre-backs look set to be available this summer, with the likes of Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Christensen and Zouma all ahead of them in the pecking order.

With us having a couple of domestic loan slots available, a move for either could make sense – although Sarr would appear the more attractive option.

Ampadu had a mixed spell at Sheffield United last season – although he can play as a holding midfielder – while Sarr is a France U21 international who impressed at Porto last season, playing alongside former Mag Chancel Mbemba.

Here’s a snippet from Ryan Taylor’s transfer piece for The Express:

Newcastle are considering Chelsea duo Ethan Ampadu and Malang Sarr among a list of potential loan targets, Express Sport can reveal.

The Magpies are expected to make the most of the loan market before the end of the transfer window and another defender is of interest to Steve Bruce.

Premier League clubs cannot register more than two players on loan at one time while borrowing two players from the same club is completely off-limits.

It means Bruce would have to pick between the pair should he decide to make a formal approach to Chelsea.

The Blues would be open to letting both leave on loan this summer given the strength of Thomas Tuchel’s defensive roster, after spending last season at Sheffield United and Porto respectively.
