Forgotten man set to sign before sealing summer exit as FIVE clubs submit loan bids – Report

The Chronicle are reporting that Matty Longstaff will sign a one-year extension to his current deal before being shipped out on loan to one of FIVE Championship clubs.

The 21-year-old has just a year left on his contract and has attracted interest from Blackburn, Sheffield United and Huddersfield, however Lee Ryder has revealed that Nottingham Forest and Blackpool have now joined the queue to sign him.

His older brother Sean excelled for the latter in 2017/18, a move that kickstarted his Newcastle career and helped forge his path to the first-team.

The Chronicle are reporting that Newcastle hope Matty can do the same while on loan, rather than risk losing a promising young talent for NOTHING next summer.

As it stands, the Geordie duo will leave the club for free at the end of the season, a grim scenario given the fact that they are two of our most promising academy products in recent years.

A loan move would be the best option for Matty as he would get some much-needed game time, but I would be disappointed as a Toon fan if he was shipped out the door permanently.
