Newcastle back in for long-term target after stunning start to 2021/22 season?

Newcastle United are weighing up a move for QPR star Rob Dickie, according to Football Insider.

Their latest ‘exclusive’ claims that we are weighing up a late bid for the centre-back – who has started the 2021/22 season in stunning form with three goals in four games!

The report states that Leeds and Wolves have shown interest in the 6ft 3′ defender, however it’s believed Steve Bruce has been a ‘big admirer’ of his for some time and is keen to see us make a move.

We were first linked with a move for the 25-year-old last summer, with The Mirror stating that we were left impressed by his displays in our FA Cup clashes with Oxford during the 2019/20 season.

Football Insider then reported in May that Bruce was a big fan of the ball-playing centre back likened to Harry Maguire for his aerial dominance and ball playing ability, suggesting there’s been long-term interest from our end.

Several months on, it’s claimed QPR are ‘reluctant’ to lose their key man at the back – especially after such a strong start to the season – but are braced for late interest.

The player himself has also talked up a move to the Premier League, having this to say through the week:

“I’ve always had ambitions to play at the very top if that’s here with QPR or somewhere else let’s see what the future holds”

He has all the qualities of a Premier League centre back and would be a great signing for me, however I can’t see us paying the money he would demand if we’re looking at loans and cut-price deals between now and August 31st.
