NUFC make move for Norway international – Enquiry rejected but it’s ‘one to watch’ – Report

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United have enquired about the signing of FK Rostov star Mathias Normann.

He claims that our approach has been ‘rejected’, but believes a move for the highly-rated Norwegian is ‘one to watch’ over the final few weeks of the transfer window.

Normann is a 25-year-old defensive midfielder currently playing in the Russian League with FK Rostov, with him featuring in their Europa League qualifying campaign last season.

He spent a spell in Brighton’s academy earlier in his career and has been capped by Norway at U17, U18, U21 and senior level.

A combative ball-player known for his energy and quality in possession, Normann was named in the Premier Liga team of the season last year and has been previously linked with a move to Manchester United.

It’s claimed Bruce has been in the market for TWO central midfielders this summer, so this could be a new one to watch – especially when we could now shift our attention to a more defensive-minded player following Joe Willock’s arrival.
