Toon takeover ‘hanging by a thread’ after delay shocks Saudis, Staveley & the Reubens – Report

The Saudi-backed takeover of NUFC is “hanging by a thread” after a breakdown in communication between the buying and selling side, according to new media outlet Newcastle World.

The same piece – written by former Gazette reporter Liam Kennedy – also claims that the latest delay, until ‘early 2022’, left the Saudis, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers all ‘shocked.’

Fans found out that the legal process between NUFC and the Premier League would be adjourned until next year by an official club statement on July 19, with Newcastle World claiming the consortium found out at the same time as everybody else.

Amanda Staveley had been doing the media rounds in the week leading up to the announcement, appearing on ITV, Sky Sports and talkSPORT to discuss the ongoing takeover saga.

Mike Ashley leaving Staveley and other members of the buying side in the dark regarding the current state of the takeover is unlikely to go down well, with a breakdown in communication hardly ideal in getting the deal pushed over the line.

It’s looking like we need to move on to other potential buyers, with this drawn out Saudi saga seeming destined to fail.

  1. I don’t know whether it’s naive or optimistic to thing this takeover is still hanging by anything.

  2. More garbage from the uninformed.
Newcastle United fans and the media have been sitting like little kids with their hands over their ears shouting Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na- for the last year.

The Saudis walked away over a year ago. That was the end of it.
Anyone who believes that there is still anything in this has no real world experience, and certainly no Middle East experience.
Ashley’s court cases are nothing to do with selling the club, and everything to do with trying to get compensation out of the EPL.

Staveley has lived and worked in the Middle East long enough to know this, so her constant engagement with the fans, claiming this is ongoing suggests she’s hoping to get another Middle East buyer in as and when required.
