Laughable new transfer claims – Steve Bruce to ‘hold talks’ with available Premier League star

According to pretty bizarre and borderline laughable story that emerged over the weekend, Steve Bruce wants to hold talks with James Rodriguez over a possible move to St James’ Park.

This comes from Italian outlet Calcio In Pillole and ‘transfer guru’ Ekrem Konur, who claims that we ‘plan to hold talks’ with Everton about his availability.

It’s been well documented that the Colombian is not in Rafa Benitez’s plans at Goodison Park, meaning he looks set to be on the move over the final week of the transfer window, however a move to Tyneside seems highly unlikely for any number of reasons.

Not only has Bruce stressed that we’re in the market for defensive reinforcements and perhaps another central midfielder – of which Rodriguez is neither – his wage demands will be colossal.

Nevertheless, here’s what Konur told his 137,000 followers over the weekend:

To say this one needs to be taken with a pinch of salt is an understatement.

Silly season is well and truly back. Let’s just hope we’re focusing on slightly more realistic targets with just over a week remaining until the transfer window slams shut for another summer!

  1. Everything is a laugh!
Transfer lists Schar and Longstaff, then plays them?
What type of effort does that bring?
This club is worse than ever and getting worse under Bruce, he is totally clueless!
