NUFC move ‘imminent’ for reported Toon target & loan exit likely in ‘next couple of days’

Earlier this month, ESPN reported that Newcastle United had ‘reached an agreement’ to sign teenage talent Santiago Muñoz.

Almost two weeks on, fresh claims have emerged from Mexico on the 19-year-old’s future – and it really does sound like he’s on his way to St James’ Park.

Muñoz has been left out of a Mexican All Stars side that were due to play an MLS eleven tomorrow, with boss Juan Reynoso stating in his pre-match press conference that he’s busy sealing a transfer to an unnamed team in Europe.

A few hours later, Mexican outlet Tudn Mex claim that the ‘mystery’ club is in fact Newcastle United and that a move to Tyneside is ‘imminent’ for the Santos Laguna striker.

Elsewhere on the transfer front, Steve Bruce has confirmed that Matty Longstaff is heading out on loan.

He’s confirmed that talks have been held about his next steps this season and that, after a couple of enquiries, he looks set to seal a temporary move away “in the next couple of days.”

“It’s (a loan) something that we’ve decided might be best for Matty. I’ve had that conversation with him.

“We’ll see in the next week, but we’ve had one or two inquiries.

We’re hoping something will happen with him in the next couple of days.”

No clubs have been mentioned by Bruce this morning, but The Chronicle did report last week that Sheffield United, Huddersfield, Blackburn, Blackpool and Nottingham Forest had all been showing interest.
