Watch all 10 penalties & big chances missed before Newcastle v Burnley went to spot kicks – Video

Newcastle United have released highlights from last night’s 0-0 draw with Burnley – a Carabao Cup clash that ended with us being dumped out on penalties.

Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron had tame spot kicks saved in the shootout, however, as the clip below shows, we had more than enough chances to win the game in normal time.

Gayle hit the bar and could’ve had a couple on another night, Hendrick had his chances and Manquillo forced Hennessey into a good stop late on.

The visitors had just one shot on target in the 90, however they were better than us in the shootout – which featured emphatic finishes from Willock, Joelinton and Sean Longstaff, along with a big stop from Woodman.

Watch the official highlights below:

Match stats

Possession: Newcastle – 54% v 46% – Burnley

Total shots: Newcastle – 18 v 6 – Burnley

Shots on target: Newcastle – 3 v 1 – Burnley

Corners: Newcastle – 9 v 4 – Burnley

Another poor result, putting real pressure on Steve Bruce ahead of Southampton’s tip to St James’ Park on Saturday.
