Double deal close? – New reports claim striker en-route & midfielder to sign by 11pm deadline

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are ‘closing in’ on the loan signing of Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury.

Elsewhere, TUDN MEX reporter Daniel Velasco has confirmed that Mexican talent Santiago Munoz is en-route to England and set to become a Newcastle United player in the ‘next few hours.’

This appears to be a signing for our U23 set up, however it remains to be seen if the 19-year-old youth international could push for a first-team place.

Back to Choudhury, he appears to be one of the more likely senior arrivals today, with The Telegraph’s John Percy – their chief reporter in the Midlands – stating that he’s expected to seal a move to St James’ Park today.

Here’s a snippet from his deadline day piece:

Choudhury, the midfielder, is expected to leave before the deadline by completing his protracted move to Newcastle.

Steve Bruce has been targeting Choudhury for over 12 months and is closing in on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old almost arrived at the club in January, only for Brendan Rodgers to block a deadline day loan move after failing to sign a replacement.

However, with Boubakary Soumare now in at Leicester, it seems he’s available and free to leave on loan.

The question is, who will be making way if Choudhury really is ‘closing in’ on a move? Has Bruce resisted the urge to name FOUR goalkeepers in his 25-man squad? Or could we see a late move for the likes of Sean Longstaff?

Time will tell…
