According to reports in France, Newcastle United have submitted a ‘last minute’ bid for Marseille star Boubacar Kamara.
This comes from Le Phocéen, who report that a deadline day offer has arrived from Tyneside for the versatile Frenchman – who is comfortable playing at centre back or as a central midfielder.
However, the same report states that the player is ‘extremely hesitant’ about the prospect of a move to St James’ Park, suggesting he’s far from convinced we’re the club for him.
Kamara is someone we’ve been linked with on several occasions this summer and could be available on the cheap, with him out of contract next June as things stand.
The Mirror and The Mail both credited us with an interest in the 21-year-old last month, while French outlet L’Equipe reported just a few weeks ago that we’d had a £12m bid rejected.
He would be a brilliant signing, being able to operate in two positions we’ve been looking to strengthen this summer, however this doesn’t seem all that likely.
Not only have we left it late, it doesn’t sound like he’s sold on the move – not to mention the fact permanent deals like this had been all but ruled out by Steve Bruce just last week.
Seems like Kamala is a wise boy, who are we the club for?
