Hatem Ben Arfa set to sign for new club as former Toon star eyes 6th move since NUFC exit

Since he was released by Newcastle United in 2015, Hatem Ben Arfa has had SIX different clubs in as many years.

Following a loan spell at Hull City – seeing him play under a certain Steve Bruce – the Frenchman has had spells with Nice, PSG, Rennes, Real Valladolid and Bordeaux.

After being released by the latter in July this year, the 34-year-old is a free agent once again; but doesn’t look like hanging up his boots just yet.

According to new reports, the former NUFC star is in talks with Romanian giants Rapid București, with journalist Emanuel Rosu claiming that he also has offers from Ferencváros and an unnamed ‘Champions League club’.

Here’s what he’s had to say about HBA’s future, stating that he’s currently deciding which of the three sides he wants to join:

“Hatem Ben Arfa is negotiating a move to the Romanian Liga 1 at Rapid.

“According to the agent who’s talking to him on Rapid’s behalf, Ferencvaros and a Champions League club are also in the chase.

“Ben Arfa hasn’t made his mind yet.”

His best days are behind him, of that there’s no doubt, but I’m sure he will look back on his career with an element of regret in years to come.

After all, the man was supremely talented and could’ve gone on to achieve so much more had his application and drive matched his God-given ability.
