NUFC player confronts angry fan slating Toon trio after Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Man Utd

Isaac Hayden has hit out at a Toon fan on social media who claimed himself, Jamal Lascelles and Joelinton went straight to get Cristiano Ronaldo’s shirt after our 4-1 defeat to Man Utd.

The Portuguese superstar was gifted a first half goal by Freddie Woodman and went on to score two on a day where football fans across the world watched his eagerly anticipated return to Old Trafford.

Just moments after the final whistle, Isaac Hayden was one of three Magpies to come under criticism over alleged attempts to swap shirts with CR7.

@Magpie24_7 took to Twitter to accuse the Newcastle midfielder – who played in a back three – of not being bothered about our loss, questioning their commitment to the cause if their first thought in defeat was to secure Ronaldo’s shirt.

This clearly riled up Hayden, who responded defiantly by saying he was simply shaking hands ‘like a man’ after a tough game, insisting it’s ‘wrong’ to claim the players don’t care after they ‘gave everything’ to get a result.

Here is his response to the angry Toon fan’s tweet, which has since been deleted:
