Joe Willock sends classy message to Toon talent whose told fans he “wasn’t good enough”

Joe Willock has leaped to the defence of under-fire Freddie Woodman following our 4-1 defeat to Man Utd, declaring that we “win and lose as one”.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper was at fault for the first two goals in Saturday’s demolition as he gifted Cristiano Ronaldo a brace on his return to the Premier league.

After the game, Woodman posted an honest message on his Instagram, accepting his share of responsibility for the way the game unfolded at Old Trafford.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Tough day at the office yesterday.

“Never been one to avoid responsibility, hold my hands up, wasn’t good enough.

“Life of a goalkeeper.

“Important now to learn and react in the right way.”

Summer signing Willock commented on his teammate’s post with the following message, reminding the former England U21 stopper that we are all in this together:

We are all together brother , we lose and win as one ❤️

Some Toon fans have called for Woodman to be dropped in the aftermath of the loss, with Karl Darlow an option after returning from his battle with coronavirus.

Whatever happens, let’s hope he bounces back strongly.
