New injury fears as worrying photo emerges of NUFC star posing next to Toon fan

Fresh concerns have emerged over the fitness of Joe Willock after a new picture on social media has shown the midfielder wearing a protective boot.

The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes in last Friday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds at St James’ Park, however he’s been spotted wearing a protective boot when spotted posing with a young fan on Tuesday afternoon.

Who knows, it may be precautionary and something that clears up in time for Saturday’s crucial trip to Watford, but it’s easy to see why NUFC fans are concerned. After all, you don’t wear one of these for not reason!

See the picture below, which has got eagled-eyed Toon fans talking for all the wrong reasons:

So, we’ve been boosted by Dubravka’s return to training yesterday, however we’ll have to hope there’s nothing sinister here when it comes to Willock.

On the plus side, Ryan Fraser was wearing a protective boost after withdrawing from Scotland’s squad during the international break, yet only missed one game (the 4-1 defeat to Man Utd) before returning for Leeds last week.

Fingers crossed – let’s hope it’s nothing to worry about and not more issues with the ‘knock’ he picked up from our 4-1 defeat at Old Trafford earlier this month.
