I don’t know about anyone else, but this still hasn’t sunk in.
Not only has Mike Ashley gone – ending 14 years of utter misery and neglect – we are now THE richest club on the planet, with new owners ready to transform Newcastle United into the global heavyweight it deserves to be.
It will take time, patience and a lot of hard work (and even more money!), but some of the best things in life are free, which brings us nicely to a few brilliant videos that emerged just moments after the £300m deal went through yesterday.
After official confirmation finally arrived, Amanda Staveley and husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi were filmed leaving their Jesmond Dene Hotel and hugging emotional Newcastle United fans in celebration.

Two lines from Ghodoussi – a man who has interacted brilliantly with Newcastle fans on social media over the past 18 months – stand out. “This is just the beginning guys” and “slowly but surely.”
Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it seems we now have custodians who truly care.
After 14 years of frustration, failure and constant rubbish, we can finally get excited again about our club’s future.
We aren’t the richest club in the world at all. We have one of the richest owners in the world, but we don’t really know how much of a budget the new owners have in mind. And there are rules about how quickly they can get that money into the club.
Having said that, I’m confident that we are going to see proper investment and good stewardship of the club in the coming years – hopefully decades.
