Odds slashed overnight & star duo now linked - Are NUFC eyeing triple raid of Leicester City?

It's been a crazy few days, with the rumour mill in full force now the Saudi-backed consortium have finally arrived - making Newcastle United the richest club in the world.

Last Friday, The Mail's Craig Hope reported that Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers being lined up for the NUFC job. It's worth noting he was priced at 12/1 to replace Steve Bruce as of yesterday, but is now the bookies favourite after his odds dropped to 7/4 overnight.

That's just the start of the Leicester City links, as Rob Draper - a chief writer at The Mail - stated that Foxes star Youri Tielemans is one of the players set to be targeted by the Saudi consortium.

A few days on, yet another Leicester City man has been linked with a move to Tyneside, with French outlet RMC claiming that we've made contact with Wesley Fofana.

The highly-rated centre-back suffered a serious ligament injury back in August and has been ruled out until the new year, however it's claimed that will not put us off ahead of the January transfer window.

RMC claim that Leicester are aware of our interest and expect a 'concrete offer' to arrive soon, with Fofana already identified as one of our 'priority' targets.

Fofana and Tielemans would both be top class signings for Newcastle United, however it's best to take these rumours with a pinch of salt until we know who will be in charge of this new era on Tyneside.

Saying that, with Brendan Rodgers now the bookies favourite (7/4) to take over and the new owners said to be targeting Premier League proven players, we'll have to hope this is more than just the media putting two plus two together...
