Report: Saudis plan to raid Serie A with moves for Euro 2020 star & midfield powerhouse

Another day, another couple of new names linked with big money moves to Newcastle United now ambitious owners have replaced Mike Ashley at St James’ Park.

The latest rumours arrive from Italy, with Tuttosport claiming that the Saudi-backed consortium are lining up January moves for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie and Italian star Federico Chiesa – the Juventus winger who starred at Euro 2020.

Starting with Kessie, the report states that we are prepared to offer him a ‘lucrative deal’ to bring him to Tyneside, being aware that he could leave on a cut-price fee now his contract is due to expire next summer.

The Ivorian has been tipped to land a big Premier League move for a few years now, being a powerful midfielder with an impressive blend of athleticism and technical ability.

As for Chiesa, it’s said he has been shortlisted as a key target heading into this exciting new era at St James’ Park, with the same piece stating that Juventus teammate Matthijs de Ligt is also on our radar.

These links must be taken with a pinch of salt for now. Not so much because we couldn’t attract big names – money talks and we are now the richest club in the world – but due to the fact we haven’t actually got a new manager or director of football in place.

With the key appointments not yet in place, how could anyone know who we are going to target? After all, any top manager would be unlikely to come if they weren’t going to have any say on signings.
