Since the Saudi-backed takeover went through last Thursday, one of the names strongly linked with Steve Bruce’s job has been Lucien Favre.
The 63-year-old was the bookies favourite on Monday and is currently out of work following a recent spell at Borussia Dortmund, however he’s had some history with NUFC star Allan Saint-Maximin.
Soon after bringing the Frenchman to OGC Nice back in 2017, it’s reported that he ‘stormed off’ in the middle of ASM’s first training session at the club and demanded that the board send him straight back to Monaco.
This was reported by French outlet Get French Football News four years ago – a story they’ve re-shared now former boss Lucien Favre is being linked with the job at St James’ Park – and Saint-Maximin has responded.
See the 24-year-old’s hilarious response below after GFFN stated ‘Lucien Favre does not like Allan Saint Maximin at all.’
The king of Twitter back to his brilliant best – although it’s hard to know if he’s rubbishing these old rumours or making light of a potentially sticky situation should Favre replace Steve Bruce!
