A few hours ago, Sky Italy’s reported that Newcastle United’s new owners had identified Brendan Rodgers as their top target to replace Steve Bruce.
Gianluca Di Marzio’s piece stated that we were prepared to pay the ‘€16m clause’ required to bring him to St James’ Park, however it’ seems the Foxes boss isn’t going nowhere.
As revealed by John Percy – The Telegraph’s chief reporter in the Midlands – Rodgers will NOT be leaving Leicester for Newcastle United.
In a tea-time update on the 48-year-old’s future, Percy states that he has ‘no interest’ in the job and is ‘fully committed’ to Leicester, suggesting he will reject any offer that comes his way from the new owners on Tyneside:
An early blow for the Amanda Staveley and Co? Time will tell, but it seems the bookies favourite for the NUFC job looks set to stay put.
He is not the first name believed to have distanced himself from the job, with The Telegraph stating earlier this week that Steven Gerrard is settled at Rangers and set to ignore any interest.
