Rafa Benitez breaks silence on Saudi takeover & NUFC rumours during Everton press conference – Video

Rafa Benitez has spoken out for the first time since Newcastle United secured new owners last week.

The former NUFC boss admits he received lots of messages asking if he’d return to the club now Mike Ashley has finally sold up, however he’s insisted he is fully focused on Everton.

The Spaniard accepts he still has a very good relationship with the fans and the city, wishing us all the best as we head into a new era at St James’ Park.

As we know, it’s believed Amanda Staveley had lined up a move for Benitez when the £300m deal looked set to go through last summer.

However, with the deal delayed and the 61-year-old taking the Everton job a few months ago – ending his time out of work following a spell in China – it seems this ship has now sailed for Newcastle United.
