Steve Bruce is no longer the manager of Newcastle United.
The 60-year-old has officially left the club by ‘mutual consent’ this morning, and it seems big money has just gone on Paulo Fonseca to become his replacement.
The Portuguese coach was installed as the bookies’ 11/8 favourite late last night, however Sky Bet have now moved the 48-year-old to 8/15 in the last few moments – by far the shortest ‘next manager’ odds we’ve seen since the Saudis completed a takeover on Tyneside almost two weeks ago.
Here are the latest odds at the time of writing on Wednesday morning:
- Paulo Fonseca – 8/15
- Lucien Favre – 7/1
- Eddie Howe – 9/2
- Steven Gerrard – 18/1
- Frank Lampard – 20/1
- Graeme Jones – 20/1
- Unai Emery – 28/1
- Roberto Martinez – 28/1
- Brendan Rodgers – 28/1
Fonseca is out of work and available after leaving his role at Roma back in May, with 90min reporting just yesterday that he was ‘hugely keen’ on the job and one of the leading contenders alongside Lucien Favre and Eddie Howe.
