Top sporting director keen on NUFC move & wants manager to join him if he gets job – Report

According to an ‘exclusive’ from The Mirror, Marc Overmars is keen to become the new sporting director at Newcastle United.

The piece claims that the Saudi-backed consortium have been in contact with the Dutchman in recent days and have received a positive response.

Overmars has been hailed for the work he’s done at Ajax over the past decade, with him identifying, recruiting and developing a host of exciting talents for the Eredivisie giants.

Interestingly, the report also states that he would be keen to bring Ajax coach Erik ten Hag with him should he get the job on Tyneside.

Ten Hag is one of the most highly-rated coaches in Europe, having rejected the opportunity to become the new Spurs manager earlier this year. With that in mind, it’s difficult to know whether he’d be keen to take over on Tyneside.

The Mirror report that personal terms would ‘not be an issue’ for Overmars, however it’s believed there are two other names being seriously considered.

One is former Lille and Monaco superstar Luis Campos and Liverpool’s highly-rated sporting director, Michael Edwards.

  1. All conjecture and media rumours.
I’m surprised that Santa Claus hasn’t had talks yet ?
We’ll find out all in good time when our new owners are ready, everything else is pure speculation.
