According to Football Insider, Newcastle are set their sights on a January move for Aston Villa’s Marvelous Nakamba.
The ball-winning midfielder has only started one of Aston Villa’s nine Premier League games so far this season, with slipping below John McGinn and Douglas Luiz in the pecking order.
It’s claimed he’ll be allowed to leave Villa Park should we pay the £15m asking price this winter, with the piece stating that we have identified him as a key target.
Football Insider report that a defensive midfielder has been earmarked as a top priority for us in January and his ‘energy and drive’ appeals.
The former Club Brugge star was actually linked with a move to St James’ Park back in 2019, however he ended up signing for Aston Villa instead in a deal worth £11m.
Interestingly, The Athletic also credited us with an interest in the midfielder back in January, claiming we had a loan approach rejected by Dean Smith’s side.
If he’s not good enough for villa then he’s not good enough for Newcastle
