Watch Rodrigo Vilca score brilliant first goal since leaving Newcastle United on loan – Video

After signing for Newcastle United in October last year and spending the second half of the 2020/21 season in our U23 set up, Peruvian talent Rodrigo Vilca sealed a loan move to Doncaster Rovers over the summer.

This would be his first taste of senior football in England and a potentially priceless spell in League One for the South American, who is at an age where must must kick on quickly at 22.

Thankfully, it looks like he’s finding his feet at Doncaster and showing Newcastle United what he’s capable of, with him scoring a lovely goal in a 3-2 win over Cheltenham on Saturday.

Watch the goal below, seeing him cut in from the right, glide past two players and smash a left-footed strike into the bottom corner:

He’s been in and out of the side since arriving at the Keepmoat Stadium and taken off at half-time twice, however this feels like a big moment for the Peruvian and certainly shows the sort of quality he possesses.

With Doncaster deep in a relegation fight and Vilca needing to prove himself in England ahead of his return to Tyneside, let’s hope this is the first of many from the attacking midfielder.
