Journalist claims NUFC will “immediately” submit €20m bid for Feyenoord star in January…

Some big claims have emerged from Dutch journalist Maarten Wijffels today.

According to the Sportwereld reporter, Newcastle will make a move for Feyenoord star Luis Sinisterra as soon as the January transfer window opens.

He claims we will “immediately start bidding” for the 22-year-old and believes a €20m sale “will go through” for the Colombian international.

The left-winger has bagged nine goals and six assists in 17 games so far this season, making him one of the most in-form players in Holland.

Speaking to FR-Fans.nl, here’s what journalist Maarteen Wijffels had to say:

“This will be the 20 million sale that will go through,

“He has a lot, that goal against Union Berlin that Jahanbakhsh made.

He’s always facing forward. A really wonderful player.

Newcastle United will immediately start bidding.”

It should go without saying by now, but a pinch of salt is needed with this one.

For starters, I’d be shocked if a relatively unproven winger is someone we’re ready to spend almost £17m on, not to mention the fact this is possibly the last position we need to strengthen.

That aside, there’s been any number of players linked with a move to St James’ Park since the takeover went through, making this an easy story to write as we head towards January with money to spend.

Until a manager and Director of Football is in place, it’s difficult to believe anyone claiming to know who we plan to sign!
