Agent of Newcastle United star responds to new exit rumours – “We will see if he leaves”

If the latest reports emerging from Paraguay are to be believed, Miguel Almiron is receiving interest from Elche – currently 16th in La Liga.

Soon after these claims arrived, agent Daniel Campos has appeared on Universo 970 AM – a radio station in the capital of Paraguay – to respond to the rumours.

In this he stated that it was “unlikely” Almiron would be leaving for Elche, believing he is “one of the pillars” behind this new era at Newcastle United now a Saudi takeover has gone through.

That said, he didn’t rule out any exit, saying “we will see if he leaves” – which is no real surprise from a man who was talking up a potential move to Atletico Madrid in the early stages of last season.

Here’s what he had to say about the Elche links:

“It is unlikely.

“We will see if he leaves because he is one of the pillars of the revolution of Newcastle.”

Almiron was actually named on the bench in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace – a decision that surprised most Newcastle United fans on social media.

Hopefully he’s back in the side for Saturday’s clash with Chelsea, however he will need to up his game and improve those all important numbers in the final third if he’s to be a leading figure in this new era at Newcastle United.

Here’s a reminder of what Steve Bruce had to say about Miggy’s agent last year after he talked up alleged interest from Atletico Madrid:

“The agent is an amateur who is looking to make a fast buck. I couldn’t miss them because they were that outrageous.

“It’s a two bob agent and it was amateurish It’s hugely disrespectful to his client.

“Had it been Miguel Almiron coming to see me that is different.”

  1. Almiron’s agent said last year, “Miguel Almiron was being observed by Atletico Madrid. “When everything returns to normal, Miguel will take a leap in quality. Perhaps he would like to play for a team that has a lot of possession. Maybe in June, he’ll make that jump.”

Now because of the takeover he says, “It is unlikely.because he is one of the pillars of the revolution of Newcastle.”

Follow the money eh? This agents actions leave a lot to be desired.

  3. If they don’t want to be here I say “sling your hook”!
We have too many players who sulk and under perform yet take the wages on offer.
Greedy agents have killed football, it’s about time clubs started dealing with only the players and tell the agents to do one.
As for Almiron he always gives plenty of effort, but I am not convinced he has what it takes or our coaches have ever got the best out of him, he seems too light weight to play in his preferred position and from what we have seen rarely has he shown an end product to his game.
At the moment he is as good as what we’ve got which doesn’t say much!
