Richard Keys responds to Unai Emery news with embarrassing message to NUFC fans

Richard Keys has come out of the woodwork with some laughable comments on Unai Emery – the man expected to be named the new Newcastle United boss this week.

According to the Bein Sports host, the Spaniard is not suitable for the job at St James’ Park because he has ‘no experience of a Premier League relegation fight.’

Yes, that’s right, you can lift FOUR Europa League titles, accumulate 70 points in your first season at Arsenal and win the treble at PSG, but without proving you can keep a team in the Premier League you are not worth of replacing Steve Bruce…

Absolute rubbish from Keys, who talks about Villarreal’s slow start to the new La Liga season, yet conveniently forgets the fact he’s just delivered there first European trophy just a few months ago.

Here’s how he reacted to news of Emery’s potential appointment ahead of Saturday’s trip to Brighton:

This is the same man who said “I don’t know what Newcastle fans want if not Steve Bruce” after we’d had just two wins over a run of 14 games midway through last season.

Well, after no wins in 10 this season, I’m sure one of Europe’s most successful managers will do quite nicely, Richard!

Sometimes you have to ask yourself just why managers such as Emery haven’t got experience of relegation battles…

  1. Richard Keys and Simon Jordan are a bit like wasps….little insignificant irritants who serve no real purpose in life.

  3. I appreciate that bloggers feel they have some kind of an obligation to slag off the likes of Keys and Jordan but after a while these bloggers just start to sound like bitter individuals and lose credibility.
It’s only a couple of weeks ago that all the pundits and most of the blogs were saying that the Newcastle job was a temp position where we needed to bring in somebody who was a scrapper, with experience of relegation battles just to keep us in the prem. Remember? THEN once we were safe we would hire a susperstar manager to build the team.
One argument was, “but who is going to take that on for just one season?” Do we remember all this?
This constant attacking of everything Keys, Jordan, and all the other pundits say, just for the sake of it is just childish.
